A short description of the NBS project

‘Park around the corner’ is an initiative that supports citizens to create green spaces in their neighborhood. The ambition is to renature the city to create a healthier and climate resilient urban environment. Citizens can submit a proposal on the website or use the toolbox to see how they can green their own neighborhood. If the initiator wants to proceed, the organisation supports them in each step of the project (from planning to implementation). The emphasis lies on creating a community network to strengthen social cohesion and to create shared ownership. After establishing a core group of volunteers, a plan is designed by and with the neighbourhood to ensure that it matches the needs of the local community. This is crucial because community ownership is important to sustain and maintain the green space. The organisation furthermore helps to find funding and find experts that can support during the design phase.
